YouTube sensation Patrick Starrr will be launching a makeup range together with MAC Cosmetics next month.
MAC Cosmetics said the MAC x Patrick Starrr range of 12 “mesmerising custom-colour essentials” will be on shelves in time for christmas.
Starr has over 3.5 million followers on YouTube and it has caused major celebrities including Kim Kardashian and Tyra Banks.
The MAC collaboration is particularly inspiring as Starr, whose real name is Patrick Simondac, began his career as a makeup artist working in a MAC counter in the hometown of Orlando just 5 years ago.
Speaking to refinery29.com, Starr said working at MAC was “like Hogwarts” for him.
“I learned a lot there and felt confident despite the fact that I didn’t fully realize makeup,” he recalled.
“I don’t think I would have begun a YouTube channel been with them not been for learning at MAC.”
Starr told the website that MAC also served being an emotional and creative outlet for him.
“There wasn’t really anywhere to wear makeup to for a child how old irrrve become,” he said.
“I’d visit Pulse, the gay club in Orlando, and MAC – these were the only places I could wear makeup in public places.”
A year in development, the inaugural MAC x Patrick Starrr collection consists of “universal essentials” including setting powder, loose powder, eye shadow palettes and lipsticks.
“I didn’t want to go too artsy or avant garde with my collection,” said Starr.
“I literally wanted someone’s grandma so that you can enter a MAC store anywhere in the world and then begin using these products.
“I made sure it had been universal to ensure that anyone who loves makeup, glamour, and sparkle will discover something in it.”
Starr's one-year collaboration with MAC will see the release of 5 more collections in 2022.
