The Napoleon Perdis Makeup Artistry Squad was out in full-force a week ago creating “over 200 faces” for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia and also the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Weekend Edition in Sydney.
The squad, comprised of 42 makeup artists, come up with looks for Swim showcase, St.George Next Gen, Active showcase, Leo & Lin, Akira, Camilla (weekend edition) and Runway shows (weekend edition).
Company founder and CEO Napoleon Perdis says the company (that was a sponsor at the first MBFW Australia in 1996 called the official makeup partner at this year's event) is proud of the squads success at this year's event.
Although there have been many spectacular moments around the catwalk, Napoleon says the highlight each week for him “was being able to give our rising makeup artists the opportunity to use our seasoned global makeup artistry squad, and bring these looks, tricks and tips into the store and straight to the consumer”.
“It provides for us a voice of authority in the industry as we are creating trends and leading the makeup charge.”
He readily acknowledges there were however some 'lowlights' backstage.
” Probably the most stressful moments were when we had ‘runners’ (models running in one show to another) turning up later than anticipated,” he explains.
“Not only were some models running using their company shows at Carriageworks, but some were originating from offsite shows too!
“We must be on our game and ensure we were effective in keeping the look consistent across those we had hours to make-up and people we had minutes with!”
