In conversation with Victoria Curtis:
What's the secret to a great makeup range if you find so many choices on the market?
“My priority has always been to produce products that address beauty concerns that are common amongst women. We consider issues for example dry or dull skin, under eye circles, pigmentation, rosacea, thin brows or uneven complexion, and our goal is to formulate or design something that targets these concerns and offer solutions by using top quality cosmetic makeup products. The bottom line is to identify a necessity or opportunity on the market and educate your visitors on how your products can meet this need.”
It has been a difficult time for everyone in the industry again this season – how have you coped?
“Thankfully our customers happen to be extremely loyal during this period. We have been so grateful for their ongoing support and passion for the Victoria Curtis Cosmetics brand. We have, like the majority of, had to adjust to these unprecedented times, however, remaining positive and proactive continues to be the key. Continuing to evolve and move using the times has been key. Online continues to be strong and therefore you should purchase technology that supports the customer experience- especially because this is now mostly from home.
I personally have been concentrating on cool product launches and exciting future ventures to ensure that positivity is always high and motivation levels are peaking. That is how I usually have brought the best out in myself and my team.”
Any advice for makeup artists seeking to develop their range?
“My advice is to seek information! Investigate your market and just what you can do to provide them something unique. Not only regarding your product or service however the experience with your brand overall. Your competition in our market is fierce which means you must ensure that you're committed to your goals and work towards them always. Small steps is always the easiest method to move forward with any project. It's unrealistic to create targets that you can not achieve for the short term, this will only lead to disappointment. Probably the most successful business journeys always start small. That is the great thing about and the lesson that we often remove from them.”
I know education is hugely important to you – why do such a critical component of business?
“Education is really a vital part of what we do. When our retailers and our customers have information at hand, this builds confidence within our products as well as confidence in their makeup application, meaning they are able to get a lot more out of their makeup. In my opinion in teaching our customers how they can produce a look they never thought was possible in a few simple steps. They are often surprised, that with the use of only a few in our products, they are able to acquire a long-lasting, professional look. The most important a part of our education program, however, is the skincare components within our products and the worth of using mineral cosmetics for skin health, hydration and glow. A number of our clients are unaware that their makeup could actually be damaging the integrity of their skin. Making a change to mineral makeup is often the catalyst for instant leads to their skincare program. We are happy with the fact that our formulas are retailed in countless cosmetic and skincare clinics across New zealand and australia for this reason.”
What plans have you got for 2022?
“I have some very exciting plans for 2022 which I can not yet reveal- they are doing however tie into our skincare story and I can't wait to talk about the products that we'll soon be offering our clients- watch this space!”
