Shella Martin was named 2022 Makeup Artist of the Year in the second annual Makeup Artist Guild Asia Pacific (MAGAP) awards in Sydney on Sunday night (November 3)
Speaking after her win, Shella said she was honoured to win the major award and five category awards.
“My journey started as a little girl collecting hundreds of magazine cut-outs of make up images,” she said.
“Although I constantly make an effort to innovate and learn, in this world we get up on shoulders of all those who have supported us – including my fellow nominees, family, friends and industry partners.”
MAGAP founder and director Melanie Burnicle said winning the Makeup Artist of the season title is not a simple feat.
“To be selected like a finalist to get the general award, each makeup artist must be named a finalist in three categories,” she said.
“Then, all finalists were independently assessed by an international judging panel comprised of international superstars, global agents, artists, creatives and industry figureheads.”
